Belize

Belize, originally uploaded by Britphoto.

This image was taken on a recent trip to Belize. We made the trek down the coast to the Placentia Peninsula, a cluster of sleepy little resorts and villages filled with friendly people and simply honest food. The coastlines are mostly rocks and mangroves, but the water is pristine, and its people fight to preserve and protect it, passing that knowledge down to their children. We stayed in the Maya beach area, about 8 miles up the coast. Remote. Peaceful. Beautiful. A great trip filled with quality ocean time, including kayaking twice to false caye, a snorkeling trip to the Laughing Bird Caye National Park, and a few trips on the local bus to the town center. After having my fill of Belikin beer and blackened yellow tail snapper, I'll leave happy.
