Day of the dead 15th annual Dia de Los Muertos festival at Hollywood Forever

Quinceanera + Dia de los Muertos – A match made in Heaven

Every year we look forward to the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
And with the Quinceanera theme – the potential of seeing hundreds of teens in brightly colored hoop dresses made it even more irresistible to photograph.
This event does a great job at celebrating culture and family by using art, music and costumes to tell the story of the departed.
Family altars are becoming more and more sophisticated, using LED instead of candle light, metal sculptures instead of paper mache, often pushing the boundaries of what is traditional.
The cemetery is so well utilized for this festival - with the entertainment, food and art being spread out so that you get the full experience of the space, even in the dark.
I'm always sad when its over, but there are always bands and movies – so we'll be back there soon enough.
